News:
- DEAN organized a National Level interaction program on "Role of Civil Society in CA Elections" at Hotel Malla on February 25, 2008. In the program, Nilambar Acharya presended his paper and Yuvaraj Ghimire made comments. Subhadayak Shah presented a paper on Long-term Observation and Terai security assessment and Kundan Das Shrestha, an election expert commented on the paper.
- On the Ocassion of interaction program, the chairperson of DEAN officially launched a new web portal www.nepalelection.org, which provides detail on events, news and various election related information. More than 70 participants actively participated in the program.
- DEAN conducted a Training of Trainers on “CA Election Observation/ Monitoring, Political/ Election Violence Education and Resolution and Civic Education”. The Training held in Kathmandu from 27-29 February included 12 District Coordinators and 73 Constituency Focal Points.
- DEAN has prepared its second Long-Term Observation Report for the month of January. In the report, 209 constituencies (of a total of 240) from 62 districts (out of 75) were observed, in which respondents from 23 constituencies have put forth their view of security situation being unsafe. Out of 23 respondents, 18 are from the constituencies in the Terai region.
- DEAN has prepared its Political/ Election Violence Report. In the January report, 45 incidents were reported from 23 districts. More than half of the incidents (31 incidents) were reported from the terai districts of Eastern & Central Regions
- DEAN is deploying its 12000 volunteers across the country in all polling locations to observer the CA Member Election 2008.
